External mounted portlights - what about inside?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to remount the four big cabin portlights on my Islander Bahama 30. There are unfortunately non-standard, oversized portlights. There is a guy who makes new versions of the originals in California, but I like the look of externally mounted portlights, so I'm going to go that route.

That said, I sort of want to redo the portlight frame on the inside. Once the portligth is externally mounted the interior frame no longer has a purpose. I'm having some trouble picturing what I can do back there. I was thinking of having custom brass frames made, or custom moulding to match the corners, and then paint it white. I also thought about having a piece of white acrylic cut to that shape, but low rise, and simply epoxy it in place. Or maybe some custom cut brushed aluminum. Those are just a few options. Has anyone else ever face this issue after externally mounting portligths?

You can build your own trim rings from PVC sheet

Why not make up some fiberglass trim? (I had to do that for my deck hatches and X4 of the cabin windows)

This is f/g trim I made up to go around the window in the shower/toilet
