Fat Boat rollout. F-46 reveal

We finally wrapped up the Fisher 46 restoration we were doing. After nineteen months, she rolled out of the shop.

Hull before:

We also had to rip the interior apart to replace most of the wood and all of the fabric in the boat.

We also had to rebuild the scuppers, bulwarks and housetop in places.

All in all, a tough drawn out affair.

Here's a slideshow for those who want to see all of the pictures.

Beaut work as usual, Charlie! I would be afraid to use the vessel... scratching those topsides would likely incur serious repercussions from the owner or Admiral.

What next?

What a project ! I don't think I'd have the guts to do what you did.
That is beautiful.

I'm not normally a big fan of motorsailors, but that boat is absolutely stunning! Well done! That boat would look really nice cruising along the Maine coast.

Thanks folks. She's up for sale now. We're working on the little Mariner 31 we had for sale. Should deliver it in Jan...

Wow. Nice boat. Is it listed on YW yet?
Since you put 18 months into it, what is with the crt TV and vcr combo? Isn't that a little dated?
Where is she located?

The time went into the boat, not the accessories. Bellingham, WA. I don't know. Not the broker on this deal.

Great job.

One can actually make money after paying for restoration like that? Wow!

It depends on the boat.

Re: Fat Boat rollout. F-46 reveal

I see meretune listed for 249k. I wonder if it is the same price. It sure is a pretty boat. Nice job on the hull.
What was involved in repairing the scuppers? Did you have to remove the wood from the outside of the hull to repair them? I am assuming it had separation where they were cut out of the original hull and were leaking.
Where was the rot located in the vessel? Where was the water coming in from?

Re: Fat Boat rollout. F-46 reveal

Sorry for the questions above-, I just studied your pictures more and saw the answers in your photobucket. Was the scupper leaking into the galley?
What did you replace the wood on the side of the hull with?

I am considering a fisher 37 and the ones I have seen all seem to have problems with the scuppers so I am expecting problems. Personally, I would rather have Meretune, but I think it is a little outside my pricepoint. The boat we are considering will be in B-ham in the spring at which point we will have it surveyed. Do you know of a good surveyor around there for Fishers?
Thanks
Scott

Yes we had to pull the strakes. There were 1" wide cracks hiding behind the wood due to poor construction methodology on each side of every scupper. We cut back 3-6 inches in all directions and re-glassed all of them. The water was coming from every port and piece of hardware on the boat. Every piece of ledger wood and much of the veneer was rotted. We replaced all of it, every stick and all of the ports. We also rebuilt the aft berth structure and replaced the aft head subfloor including a new glass shower pan. All of the hardware was pulled and re-bedded as well.
