Fisheyes in perfection

I have fish eyes in my 1st coat of perfection in an area near the stern.
I made an error by not degreasing before I started, just wiped down with acetone.
How can I prevent this in the second coat?
Can I lightly sand the area, degrease and re coat?

Re: Fisheyes in perfection

We had problems this summer trying to degrease with acetone. It seemed to evaporate before we could wipe it off: obviously not doing the job. We switched to the proprietary solvent wash before mixing anything up and had no issues with our paint. 2-part polys are VERY finicky. One thread I read mentioned that they used a syringe to measure out the correct amounts -- and that the lubricant IN THE SYRINGE that keeps the rubber seal tight contaminated every batch they mixed.

Yes I did notice how quickly it evaporated but thought nothing of it.
Good to know about the syringe problem, have considered using them for small amounts.
I have bought some prepsol, and will lightly sand with 400 grit and then use this to clean before I try the 2nd coat hopefully tomorrow.
Hope it works!

I’ve had great success degreasing with dish soap and water. Then acetone it. Then spraying 2 part linear polyurethane.

Never had a single fish eye.

I think my problem was definitely not degreasing initially. Never done it, never had a problem until today. Wont make that mistake again.

Crud can also land on the surface from the air after you've washed it. (Anyone near a major highway or airport?) Working outside, the wind direction can make a difference with this sort of problem.
