Flattening Awlbrite Varnish

In advance of welcoming a newborn onto the boat, I decided to attack the galley and revarnish. I had previously varnished the wing of a table with Awlgrip Awlbrite, and found it to be more-or-less bulletproof. I expect that will be a necessary quality in a varnish when there is a toddler running around the boat.

=== Method ===

* minwax fast-dry polyurethane, sanding with 320-grit in between
* repeat until the wood is fully sealed with polyurethane
* 2 coats of awlbrite
* 1 coat of awlbrite with flattener

=== Things go wrong??? ===

* I reflexively purchased the Awlgrip flattening agent (G3013).

* The first coat of awlbrite included flattener just below the recommended amount to dial-in the amount for the final coat.

* The second coat was plain awlbrite, since I was happy with the amount of flattener

* The third coat included flattener.

The varnish was definitely QUITE milky with the flattener in, and I assumed it would clear up...but it didn't. The good news is that it isn't really noticeable, and it does its job as a flattener.

=== The Questions ===

* Does anyone have any idea what is likely to happen to this varnish?

* What flattener should I be using for future coats of awlbrite?

I assume you are based in Australia?

Maybe you should go to the distributors for advice?

It looks as though you can use an Interlux flattener?
