Don't know your tankage, but something to consider. I think the quantity of fuel AND your boat's size should BOTH have A LOT to do with your decision.
Thanks Stu. Now that would be useful and I didn't think of it. BIG plus for dual tanks!

You mean so that when that tank springs a leak, you can remove the engine once again??? I have added both auxiliary fuel and water tanks - hide them where ever you can with easy access to shut off valves and fill/vent lines. Remember that small dia water/fuel supply lines are cheap, and easy to replace!

Re: Fuel Capacity

If you have two tanks, remember that a diesel has to have a return line. Now you've got to either switch return lines with tanks, or cross-connect so that return line can't overfill one tank.

The good point of two tanks, is that if you get a load of bad diesel and you wind up needing to stop, change the filters, bleed the lines...you can now continue on the reserve tank, and leave the tank full of bad diesel alone until you reach a more convenient location. Or, if you just plain forget to check the fuel or your gauge goes bad, you can run out of fuel in one tank--and still fall back on the reserve.

Just depends on what's more of a nuisance or feature for you.
