Goiot Friction Hinges

Anybody have an inexpensive solution to replace the original Goiot Friction Hinges on the Cristal hatches and portlights? I’m looking at over $1000 for six hatches and five portlights. There has to be a better way!

I purchased replacement interior handles for goiot tradition hatches from svb-Marine for 75 dollars, catalog item 43631.

I see they have Cristal handles for 95 a piece. Catalog item is :

I saved money by distributing the spare parts across multiple hatches, replacing only what I needed. Sometimes the handle and sometimes the friction clutch or the external cap and washer.

Hi,

I'm trying to repair the same - the friction hinges on Cristal hatches and portlights. The (expensive kits) include the plastic inserts, in my case I need 2 packs for each of 9 hatches but I really don't need to replace the hex head bolts. I measured the plastic inserts in the kit, yes I splashed out for 2 kits, and they are slightly under 10mm diameter, 22mm long and with a 5mm hole through the middle for the bolts.

I've bought some pieces of plastic 25mm long and drilled the 5mm bore, but it seems 10mm diam is just that much too big... pieces of plastic bought in the UK for 16p each! Still working on this problem.
