Looks interesting, not sure about the Lister diesel though. Might be a better choice to swap it out for a rebuilt Yanmar or something. Probably a good cleaning after removing any loose gear would help a lot too.

Harry

Do you already own the boat?

Lister is a hard diesel to ruin. Clean fuel, strong battery and new oil and filters might just get it to run.

As long as parts are available it should be the first choice.

Re: Golden Hind 31

This ad was in Sell Vancouver but has probably been sold. There is also a parts supplier for Lister in Vancouver I believe.
$950 · Lister Diesel HRW3 40 HP Diesel Engine in good running condition

Gives you the idea that used Listers are available if you look for them. If you have any mechanical ability and a good machine shop in your area you can rebuild the Lister.
Hope this helps.

This is a Maine USA supplier of Lister parts:

Re: Golden Hind 31

I would run from a free Golden Hind. Even if the engine was good you will spend more than it's worth to get it up to par....

Re: Golden Hind 31

My best advice is to not change anything on the interior other than clean and repair until you've sailed it for at least 6 months. The same with rigging. Give everything a chance the way it was originally rigged. After that time then change things around to suit yourself. Remember that whatever changes you make to personalize it will probably not help with resale value.

I'm curious about the diesel repair.

kind regards,
