Greco bronze valves

Hi I am going to change my thrugh fitting with the Groco strait valve NPT on one side and NPS on the other side 3 bolt flange what I am wondering if it is ok to turne the through hull when liberal amount of cocking is used I have heard that this is a no no any I dears appreciated thamks:
