Circular object is the old main mast step from the schooner days. Note the lead ingots and cement that did not fit into the keel box.

I bent the bilge plates into a slight "trough" shape with the poor man's hydraulic press:

Bilge plating done.

Grey conduit is plumbed to the anchor locker drain.

Saloon Sole. Sole is 1.25 inches lower than previous near the engine (see spacer blocks under motor mount flange).

Door skin pattern to Starboard.

Re: Happiness is a Warm Spool Gun

Forward Cabin sole support framing. New sole will be about 3 inches higher than previous. Head room will be only about 5' 9", but the flat floor area will be much larger.

A shot captured milliseconds after completing a tack weld. Note that molten spatter has landed on foam.

The foam did not ignite in this instance. However, I did start 4 foam fires while welding this framing in place. Fires were extinguished by gloved hand.

What better fun in winter...Better to light the furnace than burn up the foam 🤣

Re: Happiness is a Warm Spool Gun

Bulkhead separates sleeping cabin and head (upside down bucket in toilet location).

Door hingeline is angled such that open door lays flat against hull. Actually, the door will lie against weather gear">foul weather gear as the area to starboard will be the new hanging locker space.

The head space is very roomy and comfortable when sitting on head. However, getting into and out of the head space takes a bit of dexterity - crouch, step in, pivot, and sit - all in one motion.

This "limbo head" is a big compromise. In return I get a permanent double berth (it will be located to port).

Thanks, Seaworthy.

I've never had to wait this long for paint to dry. I am using the same "floor and porch" oil based paint that I have used previously. I assume the difference is that the plywood was first sealed with epoxy, thereby not allowing the wood to absorb the paint solvents. The extra thick "puddle" application is certainly not helping.

Minaret, does Japan drier affect the final hardness of paint?

Yes it can. A little jap drier is standard for enamels this time of year around here. Try it. You'll like. It can change the color a hair too if you mix heavy, keep track of ratio or coat everything with one batch.
