Hatch Repair

Anyone use Sonset Marine's hatch repair service? I need acrylic and gaskets replaced. Would appreciate feedback.

Yes, I had them replace the acrylic in five Lewmar Ocean hatches in the spring of 2013. They did a good job on that, and the hatches looked very good when I got them back. It was also pretty quick.

They did not do anything other than the acrylic, nor did they point out anything else that needed to be done. I thought they could have offered to also replace some of the gaskets on the hatches, and I was willing to pay for that. I was also willing to have them replace the broken little red latches that "lock" the hatches to keep the bad guys out. In fact, I believe the hatches came back with two of the latches broken that were fine when I sent them in, but I couldn't prove it. They blamed it on UPS, but it comes down to how it was packed and the lack of padding.

Overall, I give them a B. Good job on the acrylic replacement, but nothing extra.
