Help

I recently purchased a 2006 Sun Odyssey 45 and have found salt water ingress in Hull. my question does this model have a balsa core or foam core between the hull and top layer?

Re: Help

Hi, Geoff, to the forum!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Od...ire%20rigging.

"The Sun Odyssey 45.1 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of polyester fiberglass, with Burmese teak wood trim. The hull is solid fiberglass with Kevlar reinforcement, while the deck is fiberglass with a balsa core."

You might be able to reach out to Jeanneau or one of their dealers to get more specifics about your year model.

Re: Help

Per the manual :
"Your boat is built in GRP.
The inner moulding that is stuck and laminated to the hull distributes the stresses over the whole
bottom surface. The iron ballast is fastened to the hull with bolts and backing plates.
The deck is made of balsa wood sandwich with hard wood inserts where the deck fittings are to be
installed. The deck to hull joint is made of a polyurethane filler and it is reinforced by the fastening of
the teak foot strap.
