Hoping to find these autopilot ram seals

I've got a slow leak in an otherwise fully functional system but am having a hard time finding these seals. The original mfr is out of business and the new owners do not have any. These are out of a Smith Hydraulics linear drive. anyone got any ideas??

Thx, Tom

Have you talked to a local hydraulics shop? They may be a common size.

If they have numbers, most any bearing supplier can find them. Take them to bearings inc.

Re: Hoping to find these autopilot ram seals

I was fooled by Grenada Marine who quoted me 1000$ to replace these seals and said they were "extremely difficult or impossible to find" into thinking this was going to be a chore.

But after a wait of all of 30 minutes I got a response from Dayton seals:

pn# on seal should be 4600600 ( MUC 20 x 30 x 8 ) I have 5pc on shelf @ $6.43ea

Re: Hoping to find these autopilot ram seals

Replacing ram seals is no big deal so don't been fooled by dirt bags telling you it is. Most all use readily available o-rings and lip seals. One or two specialized tools, and a good set of picks, may be handy depending upon the make model of ram. For my Sea Stars I need a small pin wrech which makes the job much easier. A good clean work surface (very important) with a small vise makes this task much easier. Use the vise judiciously with padding so you don't damage anything (distorting the tube for example is the end of the ram...replacement time).

Try Charles A. Perry aka Fluid Technologies in Jacksonville, FL.....They tend to buy parts inventories when manufacturers go out of business or stop production of a specific model. They were the only ones I could find with parts to rebuild our ram which had been out of production for over a decade.....they are super friendly and helpful...they rebuilt my existing ram replaced the stainless rod and provided me with a spare rod and seals for future use for about $350

Good luck
