How to secure a fold-up paddle to the hull

Hi. I have a small fold-up paddle that I would like to secure on my little sailboat. So that it does not move around in heavy seas, but still have it easy to grab if needed. This will probably mean somehow securing it to the interior of the fibreglass hull in the cabin.

I am thinking of adhesive velcro pads. But am asking if anyone else has had this requirement, and come up with a better solution.

Any advice appreciated!

Any sense of the best way to secure these to the hull? For me, screwing or drilling directly into the hull is obviously not an option.

Is there any place aboard that a small line may be threaded thru/around to lash/tie the paddle. It *is* a sailboat after all Small lines should abound. Perhaps mount a couple of pad eyes to do same?
Assuming 17.5 feet loa, it'll prolly take a bit more than a "paddle" to con the boat. Perhaps a proper sculling oar and mount or, if possible, a good pair of properly sized oars and locks? Stowage? Lashed/tied to rail/s, on deck or to cabin top

Assuming (yeah, I know) this device would be for "emegency" use, I' suggest something to hand RFN! If immediate need .You'd want something solid and dependable. Why start with something that's already in halves and snapped together?

Thanks deltaten. I'll take a look around the boat - it's brand new and I am still getting familiar with it. I do know that in the cabin are snaps to which some storage bags are attached - maybe there is something to work with there.

The cockpit and cabin are just too small to accommodate oars.

I mis-stated about the paddle - as opposed to fold-up, it is extendable. It seems solid and well constructed.

Oh, my! What a classy little boat. I looked it up on sailboatdata.com. while it shows a "classic" model in the photo, it does show oars and locks. I guess any sort of cabin, cuddy or otherwise, would reduce longish stowage. I still think a couple of line tie-downs would be yer best bet.

It looks like you might be able to stow your paddle under the thwart by the mainsheet or on deck aft of the rudderpost. Many people rig up bungie cords tight across a flat area and slide stuff they want handy underneath them.

Thanks deltaten. I have the "classic" model in a semi-custom build with a small cabin, to facilitate multi-day trips. And I went for the optional oars. But you are correct: in practice, there's really limited space for oars, so I have them at home. Hence the extendable paddle for emergencies, and figuring out an accessible and secure home for it .

Appreciate the ideas.

Oars might fit under bungees along the side decks or splashrail around the cockpit. Rowing long distances is easier on your body than paddling.

Those heavy duty velcro straps with adhesive are pretty darn strong! I have some of those straps and they will not come undone until you pull them apart! I do not know how well the adhesive will hold up constant water and sun exposure though.

Sorry, not sure, I got them a couple years ago at Home Depot and they were meant for construction uses (like holding lumber together) and the ones with adhesive are meant for holding up tools to a wall, so it's pretty strong. Do you have photos of your boat?
