HOW - Washable pleated water filters cartridges?

How to clean washable pleated 5 and 20 micron water filters cartridges used in filtering seawater for my water maker?

See attached photos;

I tried using Oxalic Acid 62.5 grams added per US gallon 24 hour submersion in spare filter housing. Nothing washed out or changed?

Re: HOW - Washable pleated water filters cartridges?

Ah, the things they don't advertise about water makers, this was all a rude shock to me.

- Store the filters dry, as in, take them out soon after every use, spray the crap off with fresh water, allow to fully dry. The crap comes off easily if you don't let it sit for long.
- Or, don't make water where there is growth in the water. I always do, and my filters look like that or worse and smell like fish/seaweed/ocean until I clean them

Without doing the above, my filters were good for 1 use, maybe 2 if I was lucky.
After new procedure- haven't replaced them yet after several months. I make 80 gallons weekly ish in coastal waters.

Put a line through them, tie a stopper knot. Tow behind boat. Water flow is reverse of normal flow, and pushes dirt out.

To bleach them clean try Oxiclean rather than oxalic acid.

Water flow reverse of normal sounds like the best way to dirty the filter from the clean side. I know plenty do it and it could be fine if you're quick and lucky, but doesn't make sense to me when you can simply spray it off with a hose, assuming you have pressurized water available.
