Bought this old 1969 Islander 34' for real cheap and still haven't figured out what I got my self into. She was filled with water so pumped it all out and disinfected. Now gota figure out what I'll need to get things even half way even or just turn around and flip it for the engine / hull. Waaay older boat though I'm not sure if it could still do blue water stuff but real fun project.

took me about a week to pump out the water and purge all the past owners crap. Looks like I'm learning how to sail.

Welcome to the forum, Eastan. I'm going to move the thread over to contruction/maintenance/refit, since that's the task ahead of you.

She's in better shape than some project boats!

OK. A warning. Project boats and beginners don't mix very well, because quite often the cheap project ends up costing more than a ready to sail, given the previous owner lowered the price because of what it would cost to do the repairs himself.

In addition, projects tend to take up all the weekends of the beginner, when he(she) should be out learning to sail.

That said, when you start running into problems, there's a wealth of cumulative knowledge available on this forum.

Best of luck with it.

I don't know if that's a 'boat' yet; for now, consider it a 'hull' and a collection of other stuff that you need to go through to determine its current usefulness. Working engine? Useable sails? And that interior...

But it's a pretty nice hull...

Keep us posted!

Yeah I did some history research and it's from when they overcast everything. It's so old though.. haha. I'm going to get my engine guy to look at the engine next.
