(I Think Bad) Hull Paint Pictures

Hello all! I'm looking at a boat that's floating. Stuck a camera underneath but I am not sure what I'm seeing. Pics are bad, but they're all I have. Any thoughts from the learned crowd?? Is this just regular hull growth/wear after a season?

I'm thinking it's red paint that's about 50% peeled. Now the algae is covering the grey underneath. But I'm new, so thought I'd get a second opinion!

You’re looking at algae growth on the hull, nothing more. No indication of anything wrong with the paint.

The dark grey is nothing? I see three colors. The red and the grey, at points, have straight lines between them... like it's paint that's peeled. The green I see is algae growth. But if you think it's nothing to worry about (from a paint perspective) when buying it... then I shall sleep in peace! And thanks for the reply!

I don't see anything that isn't red anti fouling paint or green algae. What you consider to be "grey" is either a thinner layer of slime or the green coloration being less distinguishable in the distance. I certainly don't see any peeling paint.

Maybe not in the process of peeling... but it looks like it's gone?

Okay, I appreciate the look. Having opinions helps. Especially when they aren't my own! Cheers!

I agree with fstbttms. I don't see any peeling paint either, just patchy algae over paint.

As much as you might wish it weren't so, there is nothing going on with the paint in your pix. In fact it looks like it's in very good condition. And that "opinion" is based on 29 years in the hull cleaning business.

Thank you, both! I'm happier to hear I don't know what I'm looking at then when I do.

I trust your opinion. I have 0 years of experience. Just about to pull the trigger on a purchase and the stomach wanted a gut check. Thank you for taking the time. Sincerely!

Get a GOOD Surveyor.. Best $ you shall spend.
The results may even be paid for as you can negotiate price down.

A Good Survey makes the purchase an INFORMED DECISION.

Best of Luck.
