Question Is there a way to get a sprayhood for old boat?

Hi

I got a boat without a sprayhood. Baltic weather is mainly cold and windy, so I want to get / make a sprayhood for my Dufour 2800 but new custom made have amazing high prices, more that a new sail, 1000+ euro. Is there a way to buy used one or find some drawings of a sprayhood?

Sailrite.com has kits and instruction videosw on building most anything from canvas and sail cloth.

Bimini & Dodger for Boats

Sprayhoods/Dodgers built by the professionals are VERY expensive. Getting one for a boat unit would be a good deal.

Well your frame is going to cost you for a start... unless you can get a second hand one that fits your boat... the actual hood you can knock up yourself if you like canvas work...
Below is one I knocked up by hand stich for my Tiki 21...
Damn... thought I had a front on shot... anyway it was 6ft deep x 12ft wide... sore fingers or wot...

Re: Is there a way to get a sprayhood for old boat?

If there's another Dufour 2800 in your area, perhaps the owner will let you get the dimensions of his spray dodger off his boat, then you're in a position to see if you can fabricate the frame for yourself. Once that's on the boat, measure carefully, allowing extra for seams and hems, get the fabric you want to use and the fabric for the "windows". If you have to sew it by hand, buy new sharp needles. If you are patient, you will be able to make something you will feel proud of--and save a lot of money. Modifying an existing, used frame might be possible, and also save some euros.

Sew the windows on the dodger material before making the cutouts for them, so the fabric retains its shape while you are working on it.
