J33 Harken Rudder Bearing Repair

How can one repair a J33 Harken rudder bearing?

I have learned that Harken no longer manufacturers rudder bearing assemblies, but they do supply the replacement part roller and ball bearings.

The problem is that the balls and rollers are in dimension tolerances, it is the cast aluminium races that are worn.

Has anyone successfully repaired one?

I am wonder if an SS sleeve could be easily fabricated, or if a coating (like anodizing, chrome plating, ceramic, or some other kind of compound) could be used?
