PYI is the rep in the US for L&S.

Have you pulled the seals out already? If so, i'm surprised you couldn't match them to what the hydraulic place has in stock.

If they are actual gaskets, not O rings etc., I'd cut them. Real easy to do with a small ball peen hammer, I'm sure if there is a Vo-tech school around they could show you, or any decent mechanic can.

O rings you can find, if they are cylinder rod seals, the ones I've worked on the most had a plastic ring that went above and below the O rings, if your is like that, you want the plastic rings as well. I believe they are sometimes called wipers

McMaster Carr has a pretty good O-Ring tool here:

McMaster-Carr

They ship overnight too, if you want to get them there, but if you can measure and get the sizing right you can use the Dash Number to narrow your local search (and one of the local shops you've visited really should have measured for you).

if you get no luck with PYI, you could try to reach out to LS directly. yes, they are in France, but they can at least email you a PDF with the exact specs (or they might just send you the o-rings you need).

Re: Lecomble Schmitt power steering

The plastic rings either side of the o-ring, if they are in the same groove as the o-ring, are back-up rings. Their purpose is to prevent extrusion (out of the groove) of the relatively soft o-ring in high pressure applications. Hydraulic suppliers should be able to find replacements for you. If they do a bit of digging.

Yes , they are in France and (but ...) very efficient and reliable
just email to the attention of Michel Etchetto , he'll "overnight" ship the O ring for free if you ask nicely !!!

here are the details :
Tél. +33(0)5 59 56 26 46
email : commercial2@ls-france.com

Prior to replace the rings I would check on the rod the reason of the wear , these ring usualy don't fail , mine has 15 years and still in good condition .

PYI has the rebuild kits for about $90. The seal in the center is not an oring. If it has not been used in a while check the shaft for pitting, if it has any, new seals will not solve your problem. New cylinders go for just under $700 so hope the you don't need to go that far
