Re: Let's see how many projects I can start at once!! Brightwork/ oil finish question

This is just my view After heat gun and scrape old varnish
i use CETOL thinnned coat first 2 coats than 8 coats sometimes 2 a day if its sunny and warm . Than instead of cetol natural I use 2 coats of cetol Gloss which has just amazing UV to protect the 8 coats of cetol underneath .
Im in Florida So I have to do sun protection so Once a year I must recoat with gloss once a year. Usually inapril before the florida sun bakes it away !
Oil will not last 2 years and the moisture will gather dust and dirt and eventuly turn dark black !

Re: Let's see how many projects I can start at once!! Brightwork/ oil finish question

i use sea water for washing my teak and oil finish to protect from furycames. the finish lasts out a full cane season and longer.. usually protects for about a year if i can find teak oil finish. mineral oil finish we made up lasted 6 months. appearance lasts 3-6 months depending on teak oil finish or mineral oil finish. must wash well as surface appears as black when oiling a dirty wood. i use a 3m pad across grain and make sure all dirt is cleaned off. then use oil. easy peasy. as my boat is a formosa i have miles of exterior teak wood to finish.

Before you start sanding make a whole boat cover or a cover for each piece. Wooden boat owner.
