Hi everyone, I am helping a friend replace all the glass and gaskets for his portlights, took off the old glass and gasket, put the knew stuff on but now the portlights wont shut all the way and its driving us nets, we put the old glass back on and left the new gaskets on and it seemed to shut fine then.

The pictures below show the new glass, the hinges have a slight space that you see. On the old glass, they sit evenly on the hinge.


Any help would be great!

I'm guessing that the new lenses are thicker than the old. We made 12 new ones for ours - and had a similar problem for a bit. Measure the 2 and see if there's a difference. On ours, a little bit of time helped them fit just fine. It took a bit to get them closed at first.

BTW, we did our own lenses and it cost us about $7 each. Our seals were fine, except that the silicone that was used on them was failing. So, we removed the seals, cleaned out the channels with a Dremel & wire brush, cleaned the seals, coated them lightly in silicone grease, and replaced them.
