My comment was to only address the statement about the requirement for a "massive" battery. Reducing voltage drop is always a good idea in a windlass circuit. But that doesn’t mean that you need a huge battery. The group 31 Optima stays above 12 volts at the battery when I use my old Nilsson windlass when pulling up 200’ of chain in 40’ of water.
