Have a look at evernote - I find it invaluable for cruising and , well, everything.

Basically a one stop shop for anything you want to find again which can be displayed on a screen. Mostly free but subscription if you want to save offline on a tablet and some other bits..
You can have a look at Momonote for IOS. I use it and it has local storage, so no cloud connection required.

I also use Evernote, works very well for me. You don't need a subscription to save off line, I've got the free version and works well. No losing notes jotted on paper.

Another tip, if you have Internet access and OK google, when you're under the engine or whatever on your own with a mobile phone or tablet nearby you can just say..

OK google
Note to self... Broken bolt is sixty millimeters by m10

Or whatever, saves it straight into Evernote.

One other bit of maintenance I consider important on crossings that I forgot to mention..
I under sail boats on crossings.. minimising the stresses and loads on sails and rig..
Where many will sail with full main as long as possible... I'll have the 1st reef in.. my aim is getting across in as near possible good condition as I left.. not a record crossing and a big bill fixing broken gear and blown sails.
Its not a daysail close to home.
