Making up stanchions - what hardware to use?

It's come time to install the stanchions before I lose anyone overboard. I have bases and poles (essentially just steel tubing, as some fool half-finished a project to put wooden rails on my 28' boat by welding flat tops on all the stanchions that I now need to cut off). What I need are top caps and sleeved eyes so that I can run double lifelines. Does anyone have recommendations on whose hardware to use? My main concern is price, but I don't want to do anything stupid just to save a few bucks. At $8/per for top caps and sleeved eyes sailrite seems to have good prices. Anyone used their stuff before?

Also, what are people's opinions on setscrews for stanchion hardware? I guess certain racing rules ban them out of fear that they can loosen up but is this just paranoia? I will be drilling dimples for each setscrew.
