Re: ‘Marine Growth’

Both photos are a few months old, I’ve been pondering this for a while while I’m doing other work. Not much to explain about the first photo, I brought the boat in for bottom paint and that’s what I saw. There’s no vibration when the prop turns and it doesn’t leak as is. I wish I was there when the yellow got sanded down. That’s why I’m asking for opinions. Like I said the explaination was marine growth.

Well, I think we've established that 'marine growth' was BS...

‘Marine Growth’

Well not a marine biologist but not a lot of stuff grows such straight lines
But what do I know

I wonder what it was supposed to be doing

Edit
Maybe it’s where the manatees hide their pizza? Like kids with bubblegum

Re: ‘Marine Growth’

Does anyone sand down marine growth? Seems like a communication issue first and foremost, but whatever they actually did appears passable for the time being.

And what is going on with that hole?

I suspect the hole is there to allow water flow to/through the cutlass bearing, not unusual in full keel boats.

Re: ‘Marine Growth’

If you carefully read the OP you’d know that it was posted AFTER the bottom paint was applied, so actually too late to actually do anything. The really hope of the OP was that everybody would say, “Don’t worry, be happy.”

It’s truly amazing what sins paint can hide.

Now the whole issue is out of sight, out of mind.

And by the way, “marine growth” should always be REMOVED not “painted over”.

Re: ‘Marine Growth’

Very possibly some communication issue. All the other work that’s been performed has been top notch in my opinion. I appreciate the host of great insights. Thanks to everybody that contributed. I plan on trying to have a look from the inside and see if I can get more clues, perhaps another photo to continue the saga. Still looking for a boat name as well, maybe Holy Spirit is fitting so I won’t forget what lurks below the waterline.
