Mast Track Lubricants

I have been using Mclube sailkoat spray to lubricate my mast track which makes lowering main easier. At about $23 for a spray can of it the cost is a tad expensive. I see there are also PTFE dry spray products that cost about 1/3 of the Mclube product which does not list it's main ingredient. Any reason not to use the less expensive PTFE product?

Re: Mast Track Lubricants

Teflon spray won't hurt anything, and it will certainly reduce friction. Why not?

West Marine currently has 8 ounce McLube spray on sale for $10.39 and they show a regular price of $12.99. you may be buying it in the wrong place.

Vaporware thanks for the West tip. I may have confused Amazon on pricing which just checking is $22.50 for 8 oz. and is usually less than West. Guess I better get to West and purchase a couple of spray cans. Still wondering if spray PTFE is just as good.

I'm not sure you can find Teflon spray for a whole lot cheaper than $10.39 for an 8 ounce can. McLube is a known quantity.

I ordered two for store pickup at the sale price.
