MD7A Bleeding

I have problem bleeding my MD7A

that what i do

1 : unscrew a little bit the bolt on top of the fuel filter ( new fuel filter) and pump the manual pump, diesel comes out now problem.
2 : i have Bosch fuel injector pump and in manual its says its self venting after pumping manual pump for 30-40 sec ( i did pump much longer).
3: i unscrew the two fuel line going in injectors and here the problem, no diesel comes out even when i rotate the engine with starter for 15-25 sec, i tried the manual pump also for some time.

i think the problem is some where in injector pump

the engine wasn't started in 3 years .
i put new oil and changed the oil filter
the first fuel filter doesn't have any water on the bottom

I did search on internet and on the forums and it should bleed ...

Re: MD7A Bleeding

I also have an MD7A. Once I ran out of fuel as I docked. I didn’t turn the engine off, it just ran out of fuel. I put fuel back in and bled the pump as you describe. I could not get it to start. I got a mechanic to come by. He cranked the heck out the engine. Just cranked and cranked and cranked. Eventually she started. And has run like a top ever since.

Re: MD7A Bleeding

These old volvo Pentax take forever to bleed . Just don't let them run out of fuel again .

Glad you got her running again they are almost bulletproof . Just keep everything clean . Air oil and water they will run forever.

Re: MD7A Bleeding

The md5a required you loosen the injector line and then slightly loosen the fitting that attaches to the pump. There is a small check valve inside there that the feed pump cannot overcome even with the bleed screw loosened. The md5a uses a Bosch pump aswell perhaps it is the same idea
