Morgan swing keel question

I’m still plugging away at what I believe is a 1969 Morgan 22 and the diagrams I’ve been able to locate online show a possible way to attach the keel pennant. It shows a “prop shaft” leading out to a cable that then attaches to the keel. I’ve procured an appropriately sized stuffing box but what I cannot figure is - was there some kind of cutlass bearing inside the exit pipe? What was used when these came off the line and what can I get away with now? Then, where can I find a skinny child to reach into the keel trunk to help attach it all?
