Motor mounts

I need to replace the mounts on a Westerbeke 55C.

Question: OEM Westerbeake are quoted at $255-270 ea. That seems outrageous to me.
Some say stick with OEM but there are other designs. Any thoughts about Isoflex or PYI’s R&D product or Barry? Isoflex reviews are good.. what is your experience? What have you used successfully?
Thanks

Re: Motor mounts

If you don't stick with the original mounts specifications then my worry would be that they are "softer" and may allow the motor to move around which could affect the prop shaft/prop shaft bearing.

If they were to specifically list the mounts as being suitable for your installation that would be a good start.

No doubt there are experts on this forum who can advise.

Re: Motor mounts

All the manufacturers you mentioned are quite good but consider buying "Bushings" engine mounts.... made in US and in my experience, still the best.

Re: Motor mounts

Thanks Coopec. But I don’t know how I could translate that engineering information to a choice of manufacturers. I recently sent data to Isoflex and am so far, impressed with their response. They seem to have a wide range of product choices and I would really have to rely on them to select the product for me. I appreciate your interest.

I looked at their website but couldn’t initiate a specific engine model to mount cross reference. A computer glitch I guess. Have you used them in a marine application?

Bushings mounts were supplied with new engines from Cummins marine and several others , you will find them on a lot of perkins marine engines too. They could easily outlast an engine if properly installed. If you have a lively engine like a 2 or 3GM yanmar the isoflex might be a better option.

Re: Motor mounts

PYI mounts are rated for the actual engine weight they will carry. Find out the weight of your engine and transmission. You can then select the mounts that will be correct. The PYI guys are knowledgeable and helpful. Give them a call and they'll help you select what you need. I've used them and would again.

Re: Motor mounts

Well, thanks but I had to make a quick decision and went back to Westerbeke. They are in place now.
