mounting a propane tank

I'm installing a 11.5 inch diameter 20 pound propane tank on a 24' Islander Bahama. Does anyone know where I can buy a stainless steel bracket suitable for mounting tank on a custom stainless steel solar panel support leg? Basically I'm seeking a stainless steel L-shaped bracket with fittings to attach the stainless steel clamps necessary to mount the tank.

Re: mounting a propane tank

Where are you located? The Islander Bahama 24 is an awesome boat, same layout as the 30 just smaller. I was looking for a 30 for a year and never found one sadly. Anyway see the links below, pretty easy to locate especially if you have an RV supply place nearby like camping world.

If you need it to be lockable check this one out:

Good luck, not sure if these will match you "L-Bracket" criteria but hopefully. Otherwise you can find a local metal shop and have them fab something for you. If you have a torch you can buy some straight stock and make it yourself. A welder and a chop saw or angle grinder will also work very well.

Re: mounting a propane tank

I'm in Reviere Flowridea, I decided to get this boat because it was sitting there waiting for me backed up with two old salts (one of them my dad James and the other Don Marshall of the Marshall/Bivens/Jolley Dry Dock Company) and a complete set of tools. Yes I figured I'd have to make it myself and it would be very easy to do but I just figured I'd investigate how/why this particular item can't be found easily in the boating capitol of the world. I've been living in a canoe with a sail for ten years across the continent and back by river and the ICW from Port IsabeL to Washsintown do ya see?!. and have taken note of many "ways" of strapping a propane tank to the aft rail of a live aboard sailboat. Usually they just strap it on with a couple stainless steel clamps, but they're not going anywhere. I was thinking to heading to the edge of Jardines de la Reina killing lion fish for trespassing/supper as I fish for 18 apostalettes on Isla Evangalista (Treasure Island) dressed up as Peter Pan for a convoy of canoes reverse last supper presentation in pursuit of the presidency to command the armed forces to undam the world's rivers using that event as a lever to get control of the fossil fuel the humans are burning the garden down vainly maintaining the porous dam sheddy flushtoile.t. with GMO kicker into a barbecoo prescription and then rebuilding civilization with collective productive structures. Anybody got a better idea? Where are you? What are you doing?

Re: mounting a propane tank

The ones pictured at the sites you recommended were plain steel. I'm not interested in those although I'm perfectly comfortable with a tradeable steel propane tank. I do thank you for the pics though as I'll be sure to add a chain and lock as I'm able to see you recommend it. Thanks, Christ Allmighty

Re: mounting a propane tank

Yeah I wouldn't use regular steel either, sorry didn't catch that. You might look at the composite propane tanks. Half the weight of steel tanks and wont explode in a fire and nothing to rust.
