Muffler questions

My venerable Hydro Hush has sprung a leak. It is only a fast drip at present, certainly nothing the bilge pump can’t cope with every half-hour or so when motoring. However, It certainly isn’t going to get better, so replacement is in order.
I’m looking at a Vernalift muffler. There are a variety of options: inlet-outlet side or top, straight, configuration, etc. But the mfgr’s website offers no sizing criteria, at least that I can see.
The engine it will be installed on is a Westerbeke 55. It is supposedly a 55 HP engine, though the way the throttle is set up I doubt I ever use more than 30 HP or so, which kinda checks with fuel consumption.
Any ideas on hour to match what I need with their choices?

Re: Muffler questions

Before replacing you might try J-B weld, it's worked for me for 6 years without a problem.

Re: Muffler questions

Have you considered a Vetus muffler?

Re: Muffler questions

Which specific Westerbeke Engine?
55D Four [48HP] or , 55A Four, 55C Four & 55B Four [all 55HP]
AFIK, they’ve never made a 50HP Diesel [or Gas] engine, [made 48, 52, 53, 55 HP, etc]

You might ask Centek engineering, which Vernalift muffler they recommend, for your engine:
