Mystery Hose

I have a 1982 Passport 40. There is a 1/2" hose, located below the cabin sole at the foot of the companionway stair, that is discharging a constant trickle of water. I can't trace it. Does anyone know its source?

Re: Mystery Hose

Constant trickle implies condensation from compressor, say a fridge or aircon. Intermittent flow is from a pump somewhere, like a shower or subsidiary bilge or separate compartment.

Re: Mystery Hose

Our AC unit (not presently working) is forward in the Pullman Berth area on starboard side and its condensate line drains into the shower sump pump drain. So, it isn't related to the A.C. Any other ideas? Thanks you Scubaseas!

Re: Mystery Hose

Calorifier is a British/European? term for water heater. Or as I would say hot water tank.

I think you may have it. We have separate compressors for our refrigerator and freezer. If the drain is for our refrigeration, I'll just have to live with it. I'll try to trace it... and contact Cool Blue to see if that's a possibility. Thank you John_Trusty!

A, sorry, I assumed calorifier was an international name for hot water tank. UK ones have a pressure relief valve (PRV) on them which can release pressure when the water gets hot. Ours drains into the cockpit and from there overboard. However, previously when we bought the yacht the hose emptied into a plastic milk bottle. I changed that sharpish.

They can stick open and leak slowly draining all the fresh water system.
