Re: Need a Work Tent for Large Boat While She's in the Water

Yeah Rick, i dont think the pvc pipe would work for a stand alone building, those bow roof sheds are an elegant solution but for building right on the boat the pvc works great and suprisingly withstands the snow loads here in minnesota just fine.

So we tried to tarp the best we could ad the weather is finally here, damnit. We had a considerable amount of problems mostly due to the standing rigging, anyone have an idea of how to tarp around it or do I need to cut the tarp

To make slots to run the rigging through? Any pictures would be of considerable value. Were trying to make the tent cover both the deck and the hull as she needs fairing putty and paint on the hull and topside repair, and a dozen other things. Yay .

If it's that big a job, pull the rig. Doesn't cost that much and it'll be a great chance to inspect the rig. Cheaper then redoing paintwork because your tent leaks. If you pull the rig you can build a wood frame tent over the whole thing with a one piece max katz top. It'll last all winter no problem if you do it right. I build frames out of 1x4 with plywood gussets and 1x1 stringers.
