New deck question

Hoping we can get some insight on this project….Nee deck!
We are taking the teak deck off our boat and want to have a non-skid deck installed..
Trying to get the old teal off and the black underlayment.
We are scrapping this off! Any type of solution to apply to make this any easier?!
Thanks for your input!!

Re: New deck question

Following with interest, I have a similar, yet smaller project in my cockpit.
Teak on boats should be prohibited by law

What do you plan to put on top after cleaning?

Re: New deck question

We plan to fix any damaged gel coat, plug all the teak screw holes, repaint and add kiwi grip for a non-skid surface

Kiwi grip is a pretty low end solution… it’s thickened paint rolled on with a structure roller, producing a very harsh surface that is hard in feet and catches dirt super good.

I recommend a product like “soft sand” or “griptex”. I believe both are sold by Jamestown distributors.

Re: New deck question

Why not composite/synthetic decking?

Re: New deck question

I consider putting this on my cockpit seats.
I got a sample, it is a very nice product, and I think it will be much more durable than the paint options.
