New Seat Cushions and Upholstery!

Some pics of our new dinette seats. We had the guy who always does out car interior custom work make us some nice seats for the boat. About half to 1/3rd the cost of the local "Marine Upholsterer" using the same materials and we got them in two weeks rather than the 6 months the Marine guy needed. I told my guy he could make a killing if he did marine stuff and charged appropriately...He said he wasnt interested in making a killing just make a living! Plus I think he enjoys custom car work more as it is more creative and a challenge. He is also doing our cockpit pads soon.

Re: New Seat Cushions and Upholstery!

Our cushions are more along the lines of custom car work, with bullnosed fronts, so there still might be something for him. He could probably have as much business as he wants charging a reasonable fee.

Personally, it takes me forever, but I don't have much experience. I am also taking covers stapled to plywood, turning the plywood into mesh bottoms, the mesh along the back into naugasoft with zippers...It takes an hour or two just to get the million staples out in the first place so that I can use the existing material as a pattern.

Re: New Seat Cushions and Upholstery!

Not sure since he mainly does car interiors. You could contact him and ask though.
