Newport Solid to Diesel Heater Conversion

Hi there,

I'm doing research to replace the Newport Solid Fuel Heater on our Ingrid 38 with the Newport Diesel heater. We have an 11 gallon auxiliary fuel tank on port side which is never used and I would like to convert this to a gravity-fed day tank which feeds the heater. It sits high aft in the engine room and would be well over the 12" head clearance requirement. Trouble is the outlets are on the top surface of the tank and will require a boost to get up an over the hill before a siphon can start working. I'd like to find an inexpensive mechanical method that can prime the system so we don't have to install another fuel pump. Has anyone had experience with a similar situation or is able to see any potential issues with what I'm describing? Thanks so much for your help-cheers!
