orange peel topsides

I repainted topsides on my Tartan 37 with Interlux Perfection using tip and roll and ended up with orange peel finish instead of high gloss. Someone suggested doing a wet sand and repainting. Any ideas?

Sand and repaint

Orange peel is when the paint dries before it can flow out

Add more thinner and only work in the shade

One of the reasons why awlgrip top coat is superior is that it’s brushing reducer and brushing catylast are formulated to give max flow out time

International is a one size fits all product

Your only choice is more thinner

Re: orange peel topsides

Other than too fast drying, there ARE other things that can cause "orange peel". Frequently, applying a coat that is too thick will give "orange peel". The surface dries and skins over, and what's left underneath shrinks as it dries and, presto!, orange peel.

Are you SURE the roller you used was the closed cell foam roller specified for this paint? A "nap" roller with apply much too thick a paint film. Did you thin 10% with the proper thinner?

You do not need to do a "wet sand", unless the boat yard you are in requires it for dust control. Although if it was applied in too thick a coat, you might find that it might take some time before it gets hard enough to sand without clogging.
