Pedestal refit

I am refitting my Cal29 with a pedestal steering column instead of the tiller. I have an Atomic 4 engine. Should I connect the cable from the clutch on the pedestal straight to the shifting arm on the engine or should I loop it to the front of the engine and then back to the shifting arm. Other Cal owners with pedestals, how are yours connected?

I think that for shift cables to have a long life and easiest shift, you'll want a minimum of bend radius.
So, make the bend radius as wide as possible.
The cable manufacturing company include some info on this topic.
Bigger open bends work the best, as shift cables for the gearbox on those models tend to be larger.
