IMHO the step from velvet drive to hurth was a big step down.If you google hurth youll see many many posts about their failures. I have a hurth in one boat behind 12hp(currently rebuilding melted clutchpack) and velvet drive in another hooked to 4.108 thats been in service since 76.fwiw

Considering I got the motor, gear and coplete rebuild kit for $800.00 its a chance I was willing to take.
