Philips Hue LED Lightstrip Plus

Anybody tried wiring the Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus directly into the boat's 24V supply (via breaker / fuse) bypassing the supplied 100-240V power adapter?

The limited literature isn't clear whether the power adapter is purely a power adapter supplying 24V or whether it has controlling elements within.

Would be interested to hear of any experiences.

Note this is the second generation lightstrirp which is 24V vs 12V for the first generation.
