Preferred soaps and cleaners?

Starting a new season of sailing and wondering what are commonly suggested or recommended cleaning products. I've been suggested 'Amazing Roll-Off' by some local sailors but heard equal warnings on using it from others saying it is too powerful for regular use. Windows - clean with ammonia-free windex? Vinegar? Does anyone have success with those larger style floor squeegees for moving water off the decks, or am i just better off with a towel and some sun?

We just use Star brite stuff. It's easily available and one less thing to think about

We find vinegar and water 50/50 or simple green for most cleaning aboard. We also have some boat soap that doesn’t strip wax for deck and hull.

I like Roll-Off. Particularly good for cleaning off mold and mildew, and good for medium duty cleaning of crud on the hull. Prism Polish is expensive but fantastic for cleaning stains on the hull from diesel exhaust or yellow water staining like you get from dirty harbor water.

I bought oxalic acid on amazon and make it up 8ox in a gallon in a pump up hand sprayer and use it to get that ICW mustache off and other stains. Works great.

Re: Preferred soaps and cleaners?

We like Imar boat soap because it doesn’t strip wax, but mainly because it smells so good!

We use Imar strataglass cleaner for the isenglass so it doesn’t cloud and also on the polystyrene hatches. I’d be concerned that vinegar or ammonia cleaner would etch or cloud softer plastic.

Marykate on and off gel (easily used oxalic acid) to easily remove tannin or rust stains at the waterline, but not near metals or waxed surface.

I like dish detergent as it will foam up in salt water.

Offshore, will shower and wash my hair with it in salt water, using only a handful of fresh water for a final rinse.

This is all great, thanks everyone. There is a lot more cleaning 'stuff' than I had originally thought!
