Press Fit Bimini Frame

Hi,

I am looking at replacing the bimini frame on my Fountaine Pajot Athena 38 catamaran.

I was looking at alternative methods to welding and thought about using press fit fittings the type that uses the hydraulic crimping tool. I'm just not sure how strong the joint will be compared to welding? Has anyone done this before? I was looking at 42mm 316 stainless pipe and fittings.

Cheers.
