Propane tank drain...seal/caulk the fittings?

So in reassembling my boat I noticed that the hose for the propane tank drain had had sealant on it (in addition to hose clamps) where it meets the fitting on the bottom of the locker. Looks like silicone fwiw. Does anyone know if this is an ABYC thing or otherwise recommended?

Thanks.

Re: Propane tank drain...seal/caulk the fittings?

Hi, Suijin,
Mine is installed the same way. It is to prevent propane from escaping into the boat. When I redid my propane locker, I sealed the through hull flange in the propane compartment and the hose/barb connection below with polysulfide. I hope this helps. Good luck and safe sailing.

Yes that does, thanks. I figured gas has a higher chance of permeating the joint than fluid, ergo the caulk, so polysulfide it is then. Wasn't sure if it was just the previous owner's work or not. No harm in it anyway, whether it is necessary or not.
