Prospective Valiant 40 Buyer Questions

I am looking at a V40 from the blister years with what the broker described as a "couple of small blisters below the waterline".

Also, the mast has been replaced with a "double spreader mast from a V42".

My questions are these:

1. Is the blister issue a manageable one? In other words, should I just factor in $1-2000 into the cost of ownership every couple of years or is it something that is likely to need a much larger repair. I understand this might be difficult for anyone to answer without seeing the boat or knowing more of its history. On a going forward basis, it would likely be in the tropics once a year for a week or so.

2. Are there any material concerns with having the taller mast on the V40?
