Ozone is highly reactive which is why it works for odor reduction. But it can have many unintended consequences as it seeks out every nook and cranny, such as the previously mentioned degrading of some foam [e.g., head liners, cushions] and seals, electrical products and electronics. Please reference the attached rating scale image. While not being a totally comprehensive listing the following materials have poor or very poor compatibility to ozone: Nylon [think rope and thread / stitches, fabric / clothing], natural rubber, Buna-N [nitrile], magnesium, mild steel, zinc. Materials that are rated as having "fair" compatibility include, aluminum [to wet ozone], cast iron, galvanized steel [wet], Hypalon, Hytrel, Monel, Neoprene, Polyamide, Polyethylene, Polypropylene and polypropylene glass filled. And yes humans and animals need to avoid exposure to ozone, the symptom coughing is just a mild indicator of the damage it is doing to you.

By way of further example, there is the active standard issued by ASTM International [formerly American Society for Testing and Materials] ASTM D4246 - 14
Standard Specification for Ozone-Resistant Thermoplastic Elastomer Insulation For Wire and Cable, 90°C Operation

This specification covers an ozone-resistant thermoplastic elastomer insulation for electrical wire and cables. This type of insulation is considered to be suitable for continuous operation at the specified conductor temperatures and operating voltages in dry locations. The minimum installation temperature is specified. Tests shall be done on insulated wire or cable solely to determine the relevant property of the insulation material and not to test the conductor or completed cable. The insulation shall conform to the prescribed physical property requirements such as (1) tensile strength and elongation at rupture before and after air oven aging test, (2) heat distortion, and (3) thickness. AC voltage, insulation resistance, and DC voltage tests shall be performed in that order when any of these tests are specified for electrical requirements. The insulation shall not show any cracks when tested by cold bend test and shall show no cracking or surface checking after exposure to the prescribed ozone concentration.

Re: PureAyre Fogger for Diesel Smell?

People should be more concerned about chemicals and other things they use on a boat regulaly than about ozone that they might use for 2 hours a year.
