Putting the Expensive Bits on to live in the Pacific

I am not a great Sailor. I am not a brave Sailor. I am not a rich sailor. I am not a poor Sailor. I am not a stupid sailor. But.......

I have always wanted to sail of into the sunset. The time is approaching when I do it or sell the boat and buy a small plot of land in the dead centre of town.

I have a 1984 Dufour35 #254 since they only made 250, I always feel special.
Before that I had a Tanzer 28 and a family of four kids and a big dog. Went lots of places including an expedition up to the ice fields in Alaska when it rained every day for 33 days. Decided to get a bigger boat.

3 years later saw the one that captured my fancy and I eventually bought my Dufour 35. Built as a fast blue water cruiser I intend to test it out. Kids are grown, dogs long gone. My first wife never really got over the trip to Alaska.

So now I have a good boat that I need to get ready to live in the South Pacific and eventually to Phang Nga Bay. I may never see 20ft of snow again or feel -25C again ( in american that is frigin Freezeing)

So I have bought the following kit to fit on the boat.

Capehorn Steering gear

Katadyne 40e watermaker

100 w Solar panels

WInd generator

Icom 710 SSB

Still need a refrigeration system that will work down south.

A defunct Brit autopilot system that cost a fortune just before they went belly up. Still hope to use it to generate power by water generator.

Did I mention I am a complete klutz :-0

So since if I share my trials it may make the pain easier once I figure how to put photos on this forum I will share my journey.
