QQ - Gasket for Ice Box Hatch?????

Making an ice box and looking for gasket material for the life-hatch. Hatch will be stepped so will have two 'steps' to mate flat with the surrounding area. I see McMaster Carr carries some, but wondering if others have a good suggestion.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance - Peter

Re: QQ - Gasket for Ice Box Hatch?????

When I went to reglaze our storm windows, I tried looking for gaskets that would work. The hardware store guys suggested simply using a bead of silicone sealant instead. Doing that with your icebox lid might be easier, cheaper, cleaner, and look better than a gasket that has to be cut, mitered, and somehow fastened (hopefully permanently) in place.
