Re: Re-insulating My Refrig. Box the Hard Way.

OK thanks, in another thread some were discussing this type in general as maybe causing radio interference more than the pricier Victron gear.

Hi John,
Do the 'some' have any experience of the Yucoo type product causing interference or does 'maybe' infer that this is only an opinion based on nothing much?

We have supplied hundreds of these 24VDC-12VDC converters as an optional item and have never had anyone report interference, so my report is as a result of practical hands on experience.

Cheers OzePete

Re: Re-insulating My Refrig. Box the Hard Way.

The aspersions were cast against a very broad category, not this brand. As well as the internal workings being DC-AC-DC conversion, and therefore not any more efficient than going through a main inverter.

Thanks again for the ongoing feedback.

Post a picture of your controller placement and the condensing unit installation . I would like to see how you got that placed .

Hi John

Here are some pictures of how I installed the controllers through the bulkhead and the installation of the condensing unit under an aft bunk that is open to the bilge by way of the rudder quadrant. I have closed this area up and have no noticeable heat buildup inside.

Very nice Jim,

Yes the units give off very little heat .

Did you notice any noise from the transfer fan in the box , I had a few people tell me it was load so I added the slow/off speed on the controller .I have found depending on the box design some people turn the fan off and the box balances without it at certain ambient temperatures.

Thanks for the pictures , great install

Regards John

I still have some cosmetic tiding-up to do before I am completely finished. But that is part of the mess of a refit. I am satisfied with the install and the function of the system so far. The new insulation is proving efficient, very glad about that result.

The fan is only slightly noticeable on high with the lid closed. On slow the fan is not noticeable with the lid closed and once stable the slow speed keeps things balanced. I expect when I get back in the water in tropical heat this will change somewhat. However, based on the rapid draw-down on high I'm not expecting a problem staying balanced.

Thanks,
Jim
