Re: Recommended boroscope for hull and drive inspection?

When blanking off an unused through hull, we used Polycarbonates (Lexan) so we now have a 'glass' bottomed boat that we can see the bulb and saildrive.

+1 for the gopro knockoff on a boat hook too.

Recommended boroscope for hull and drive inspection?

I bought a clone GoPro from Home Depot for $30 that I’ve used a few times to inspect prop and rudder. Just mounted it on a boat hook and it worked great. No WiFi so no real time viewing but easy enough to connect to laptop and view files.

Re: Recommended boroscope for hull and drive inspection?

I have a simple borescope with a flexible cable and built in light and small display. About $70. I find the biggest problem using it is the light reflected back into the camera by particles in the water. You need really clear water or an independent light source to get reasonable results. I agree that you should save the money on the hardware and get a diver to survey the bottom.

Re: Recommended boroscope for hull and drive inspection?

You mentioned Borescope....
I purchased a scope from Aliexpress. I used it for various engine checks.
You can get it with extra long cables.. Again put it on boat hook.
It varies from 12$ to 35 depending on cable length.
I used it on Android phone but you can connect to PC for recording etc..

Best of luck... Brendan

Hey guys I bought one of these. It’s a live feed underwater pole camera system. Without the live feed, it’s impossible to frame what you want to see under the hull, so it’s a must have. These send a live feed to your snart phone, come with a bright light and a few other extras. Cannot recommend enough. https://dunderpolecameras.com.au/

You wouldn't have any commercial connection to the product now would you?

Particularly posting a link on your first post

You read the rules when joining the forum and the bit about commercial activities didn't you? hint.
