Refitting Coronado41

I finally see the end in sight and now I'm trying to install new nexus instruments on the pedestal. The problem is that she has the old YSI pedestal with a 12.5 inch width so none of the commercially available instrument pods work. I am thinking of just using u-bolts to mount the pod or try building the case from starboard. My other option is to mount them on the inside of the coaming.

Has anyone come up with ways to do this without replacing the pedestal guard and top plate?
